Professional Life

Michael Gyang Owusu is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of O & A Legal Consult. He is also the President of the Ghana ADR Hub. He is currently also the Coordinator of the Ghana Law School, Kumasi Campus. He has over 25 years of experience in private legal practice.

He is a Senior Lecturer teaching ADR and Law of Evidence in the Ghana School of Law and also teaches the Law of Evidence at the Faculty of Law, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology as an adjunct Senior lecturer.

He has also designed and delivered a programme in the Law of Evidence and Civil Procedure for the students of the Department of Real Estate at the College of Architecture and Built Environment of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

ADR Practice & Expertise

He has developed an extensive Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Training Consultancy Practice and has consulted for various organizations including the Judicial Training Institute in its Court Connected ADR Programme; the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) in its Land Tenure Facilitation Project; the Fordham University School of Law and St. John’s University School of Law both in New York, USA in their International ADR programs in Ghana. He has also been invited to speak on the role of ADR in Ghana at both universities.

He has considerable training in ADR. He participated in the International Visitors Programme of the U.S Department of State in 2002 researching ADR in the U.S Judicial System. In the same year he received professional training in ADR Practice at the University of California, Sacramento Campus.

Michael’s current interest is working towards creating a culture of judicial support for arbitration as a mechanism for commercial dispute resolution in Ghana.
